Summer is around the corner and you can’t bear the idea of trying to squeeze your quarantine chub into a bikini?

TO DIET OR TO EXERCISE?
The two main options are hitting the gym or swapping the choc and wine for healthy meals. This is very much a personal preference and depends on what fits best with your lifestyle.
Ideally, you want a combination of exercise and diet to lose weight and stay fit. A healthy diet and regular exercise go hand in hand and will make the processes faster and more effective, but I understand this is not always possible for everyone. Maybe you don’t have enough time to exercise or you share meals with other people who aren’t interested in dieting.
If you can do a diet AND exercise- do it! But don’t feel disheartened if you can’t. It’s totally fine to do one or the other. The main thing is to choose a routine that fits your lifestyle.

If you’re not so active and can’t think of anything worse than going to the gym before or after work, dieting is probably the best option for you.
When people hear diet they tend to picture 3 salads a day, but don’t worry you don’t need to become a rabbit to lose weight.
A diet doesn’t need to mean boring tasteless food!
There are plenty of nutritious and healthy foods that are also delicious. Also, you don’t need to take your diet to the extreme and give up on all the foods you love. Find out more about the food you already eat to decide what should go and what can stay. Trying new healthy ingredients and combinations- this really is the fun part.

They will design a diet plan based on your routine, favourite foods, weight, age and gender. With the app you can easily track what you eat and you can even scan food in stores to find out if they fit in your plan.

If you’re quite an active person or don’t want to renounce your guilty food pleasures, then dive into the world of exercise.
Find something you enjoy doing so you will be more likely to stay motivated and stick with it.
If you are sociable or prefer to follow an instructor, sign up to regular classes. Don’t worry too much about what you think you should
be doing, it’s more important that it makes you happy. Whether its yoga, weightlifting or Zumba, they will all help you get fit and lose weight if you are doing it regularly. If you get bored easily, try taking 2 or 3 different types of classes and this has the added advantage of working different parts of your body.
If you don’t have much free time or you just prefer to do solo exercise consider investing in some equipment you can use at home. Johnson Fitness have a wide range of excellent quality gym equipment and they sometimes have amazing deals on.

WHAT YOU CAN LEARN TO LOVE IS WHAT WILL KEEP YOU FI
With some determination, you can achieve great results with either exercise or dieting.
If you want a long-lasting change then the secret is to find a good balance so don’t be overly strict with yourself. Don’t say no to dinner with friends because of your diet or because you have a date with the gym. Once in a while, you need to allow yourself time off from your fitness regime.
It will be easier to keep up with your change in lifestyle and be happier while you do it if you don’t feel like you are constantly missing out!
At least once a week allow yourself some treats, fun and a break.
Everyone works differently so find what works for you. I love to set myself goals and give myself a reward when I reach them.
